2012 blev et godt år for Den Gamle By med 386.189 besøgende,
gode økonomiske resultater og en række af museets
store projekter nyder gode fremskridt.
I forbindelse med den danske finanslov for 2013 har
Regeringen udvidet sit særlige tilskud til Den Gamle
Bys arbejde med den moderne by. Og på Aarhus Byråds budgetforlig for 2014 blev det besluttet, at
kommunens særbevilling også vil fortsætte. Den Gamle
By er meget taknemmelige for både regeringen og kommunens uvurderlige støtte.
Den Gamle Bys arbejde som både nationalt og lokalt museum
fungerer godt, og en vis tøven fra
museets side om at være ansvarlig for Århus' byhistorie er
fuldt udbedret. Vi ser nu store perspektiver i kombinationen
af lokal og national historie inden for Den Gamle By.
1974-kvarteret og Århus Story skrider fremad
efter planen, og det nyåbnede Tårnborg 1974 er uden
tvivl den vigtigste årsag til en fortsat markant stigning
i det samlede antal af besøgende til Den Gamle By. Alt
tyder på at Den Gamle By i 2013 vil tiltrække over
400.000 besøgende for allerførste gang .

2012 was a great year for Den Gamle By, with 386,189 visitors,
sound financial results and a series of the museum’s
major projects enjoying excellent progress.
In connection with the Danish Finance Act for 2013, the
government extended its special grant for the Den Gamle
By’s work with the modern town. And at Aarhus Town
Council’s 2014 budget settlement, it was decided that the
municipality’s special grant would also continue. Den Gamle
By is very thankful to both the government and the municipality
for such invaluable support.
Den Gamle By’s work as both a national and local museum
is functioning well and a certain hesitation from the
museum about being responsible for Aarhus’s history has
been fully rectified. We now see major perspectives in a combination
of local and national history within Den Gamle By.
The 1974 Neighbourhood and Aarhus Story are progressing
to plan and the newly-opened Tårnborg 1974 is without
doubt the main reason for a continued significant increase
in the total number of visitors to Den Gamle By. All of the
indications are that in 2013, Den Gamle By will attract over
400,000 visitors for the very first time.
