Resumé

Annual report
When Den Gamle By opened for its 100th season on 1 January
2014, visitor figures were already at the best level ever, as
480,270 guests had gone through the turnstile in 2013.
Since the New Year, we have heard one piece of good news
after another. Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark designed
a poster for the museum; Den Gamle By was nominated
for the prestigious European Museum of the Year Award; the
museum achieved the highest grade in the quality assessment,
while visitor figures are stable on the right side of 400,000.
Last, but not least, the A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney
Møller Foundation for General Purposes has made a huge
donation amounting to DKK 135 million. The money will be
used to complete and secure Den Gamle By’s major project in
creating modern quarters in the town, showing periods right
up to today.
The donation will undoubtedly add even more to the attractiveness
of Den Gamle By, enabling the museum to invest more
in the physical structure and serve its many visitors even better.
