Resumé

The Rosenvang Save the Children nursery school
By creating a nursery school in Den Gamle By’s 1974 neighborhood
we have told the story of how private day-care initiatives
constituted a significant prerequisite for the development of the
welfare state during the 1960s and 1970s. The course of events in
Denmark in this connection are unique in an international context.
The Rosenvang Save the Children nursery school was
created
in collaboration with Daginstitutionernes Museumsforening
Aarhus
(DMÅ) [”The Aarhus Day-care Institutions’ Museum
Association”].
Over the course of many years, the association
has built up a large collection of furnishings, objects, and records
from various institutions, and a large part of the nursery school
inventory collected is now exhibited at Den Gamle By. This article
will guide you around the nursery school.
