Resumé

Motor vehicles in Den Gamle By
Many of Den Gamle By’s motor vehicles were chosen because
they represent a little segment of the Danish transportation history.
In Den Gamle By’s 1927 neighborhood stands a 1926 Ford
Model T. In the 1920s the Ford Model T was the most popular
automobile in the world. In 1972 the Volkswagen Type 1 (
Beetle)
broke the Ford Model T’s world record despite having spent a
number of years as the ugly duckling nobody wanted to own.
Both vehicles became popular in their time because they were
cheap and well-made. In P. Fredsteds Cykel og Knallertværksted
[P. Fredsted’s Bicycle and Moped Workshop] stands a Skylon
from 1955 that represents the period during which Danes began
to ride mopeds. In the same workshop stands a Kreidler Florett,
the moped, many young people dreamed of in the 1970s.
