Resumé

Den Gamle By had 546,485 visitors in 2018, and we are pleased and proud that for the third year running we are Denmark’s most frequently visited museum of cultural history. On Tripadvisor, Google and Facebook we can read in the visitors’ reviews that they are satisfied with their visits, and with the experience offered. Den Gamle By has the goal of reaching many kinds of people: from children, adults and seniors to people with foreign backgrounds; kindergarten classes, technical schools and universities; tourists; people suffering from dementia, the mentally handicapped, the deaf and blind, and the many other groups for whom there is generally little room in other places.
In a few years Den Gamle By will be fully developed. What prompts a visit will no longer be a new house, home or shop. That is why we are working with other kinds of experiences. We believe the core activities will still be an attraction for tourists, but for the locals there will be a need for another relevance. In 2020, inspired by the ”Christmas in Den Gamle By” event, which for many people has become a tradition, we will shine the light of history on Easter. Furthermore, in 2020 we will turn the focus on the history of coffee as the theme for the year.
