Resumé

New restaurant
Since 2016, Den Gamle By has been working on the new restaurant, Gæstgivergården. With the exception of one courtyard, which will be completed in 2022, the new establishment was inaugurated in the summer of 2021. The purpose of the new restaurant is to make sufficient space for the museum’s growing number of visitors and events whilst also offering a unique dining experience – aesthetic as
well as culinary.
With a wide range of spatial expressions, the various indoor and outdoor areas have all been given distinct identities, inspired by both historical and contemporary places, with clear and deliberate contrasts among them. This, coupled with a renewed focus on serving a seasonal selection of classic Danish dishes made from scratch with a modern twist, will make for varied dining and event experiences for users of Den Gamle By for many years to come.
